It’s not often a fairly new Formula 1 car goes up for sale, but this 2013 Mercedes W04 previously raced by Lewis Hamilton is now on the market

If you have a load of cash and an F1-shaped space in your garage, this may interest you. Yep, a Mercedes W04 raced by Lewis Hamilton in 2013 is on the market.

Listed by Mercedes-Benz Classic’s All Time Stars dealership, it doesn’t feature a price tag, but we can imagine it’d be pretty damn steep – this is a five-year-old F1 car, after all. We don’t see fairly new, modern F1 cars go up for sale too regularly so it’ll definitely be a great purchase for whoever eventually snaps it up.

To give some history to the car, it was previously driven by Hamilton during the 2013 season, which came just before Mercedes’ F1 dominance of the hybrid era from 2014 onwards.

It may not be one of his title-winning cars, but the W04 took three wins with Hamilton and Nico Rosberg (one and two victories respectively), as well as six further podiums.

Mercedes finished second in that year’s world championship, still some way off the unbeatable Red Bull Racing, but a very strong result nonetheless after a few fairly average seasons.

Regulations remained fairly stable for 2013 but it did feature the new five-element front wing, second-gen Coanda exhaust and the vanity panel that covered up the disgusting stepped nose of the W03.

Of course, it’s also the final Mercedes F1 car to feature the beastly 18,000rpm V8 engine – which also featured a KERS system. Whether the car comes with both of those, we’re not sure.

We certainly hope so, though. Sadly, it isn’t “race ready” (or “roadworthy”, but that’s pretty obvious) and is sold excluding all warranties for defects.

But it’s still one hell of a used car listing. Perhaps if we all chip in £10, we could make it? See the listing here.
